Fascia Yoga
In fascia yoga, I combine the variety of ways I´ve learned to approach fascia. Fascia yoga is so much more than only rolling. You can approach your fascia through different movements like creative playful movements, expanding in all directions (Tensegrity), myofascial pathways (Tom Myers), flowing stretches, melting stretches, actively charged stretches, myofascial self-massage with hands, balls, roller, and body perception such as sound, touch, micro-movements, and wave-like movements
Why should we even consider working with our fascia? For years this tissue was treated like trash and only in the last years, more and more research has shown the importance of fascia. Let me tell you just a few of many more interesting facts about fascia:
Fact #1
Fascia supports our body gives us our very individual body shape and holds our organs, bones, and muscles, even all of our cells in their place. Together with our muscles, fascia gives us stability and support.
Fact #2
In addition to the supporting function, the fascia has another function: they connect. They connect body parts and organs, e.g. a tendon connects a bone to a muscle but muscles are also directly connected via fascial connections. Everything is connected to everything!
Fact #3
Fascia protects. For example, if you fall, the fascia absorbs some of the force of the fall and therefore protects your muscles and organs from injuries. The fascia also surrounds your organs and allows them to glide gently against the surrounding structures. This protective covering allows your organs to move.
